Meet Guy Langlois – Watercolor & Oil Artist

Guy Langlois, a celebrated Vancouver Island artist, has been calling the Alberni Valley home for the past ten years. Renowned for his stunning impressionistic watercolor landscapes, Guy brings nature to life through expressive brushwork, luminous color, and a deep respect for the environment. His paintings are a true reflection of the wild beauty of Port Alberni and the surrounding Pacific Northwest.

With over 20 years of experience working in watercolor and a recent expansion into non-toxic, water-soluble oil paints, Guy’s artwork combines technical skill with artistic intuition. Each piece—whether painted in his home studio or “en plein air” (outdoors)—tells a story of nature's delicate balance and enduring power.

Before fully dedicating himself to painting, Guy spent over 40 years as a professional draftsman. That technical foundation gives his landscapes a unique structural quality, while his passion for the transparency and blending properties of watercolor adds emotional depth and atmosphere to every scene.

In addition to being a visual artist, Guy is also a professional jazz musician, often drawing parallels between improvisational music and painting. “Playing jazz is very similar to painting," he says. "I react to what is happening on the paper—moving the paint, following the rhythm of the scene in my mind."
